Our extra services "registered mail" and "advice of receipt" are available for all countries. The availability of all other services depends on the country of destination. Please contact your local post office or your account manager for information on the availability of extra services to specific countries.
Registered mail
A unique bar code is assigned to all items sent by "registered mail" which makes them identifiable. Upon request, your certificate of posting will include confirmation that you have sent a registered mail item. An acknowledgment of receipt is required for all deliveries. In case of loss, theft or damage, Austrian Post will reimburse you up to a maximum of 50 EUR.
Please note that valuables (e.g. cash, securities, precious metals) may be sent as insured letters only.
Choose this service if proof of delivery is what you need.
Just complete an advice of receipt which will accompany the item. On the face of your letter mail item, please clearly specify "A.R." Make sure it is easy to read and see. When your item is delivered to the addressee, he or she will sign the advice of receipt, which is then returned to you. While it is usually the recipient who signs the advice of receipt, other persons authorized to receive mail may sign as well, depending on the regulations applicable in the country of destination.
Please note that this extra service is available for all countries, but only in combination with registered mail.
This extra service ensures that only a specified person or an authorized person to receive mail on his or her behalf will receive your mail item.On the face of your letter mail item, please clearly specify "Eigenhändig / deliver to addressee only". Make sure it is easy to read and see. You also have the option of adding this information in another language widely spoken in the country of destination.

Provides customized insurance, adapted to the value of your item and the country of destination. In the case of loss or robbery, Austrian Post will assume the liability and will offer compensation that shall not exceed the indicated value of the item. Customers are not allowed to state a value higher than the actual value of the item. Items containing cash or cash equivalents, securities, precious metals, precious stones, jewels or other valuables have to be mailed as insured letters. If you do not send them as insured letters, you will lose your right to claim compensation payments.
Please note that this extra service is only available in combination with priority handling and our extra service registered mail.

"Cash-on-delivery" means that the addressee is required to pay the money indicated on the item to receive the letter mail item you have sent. Choose between bank transfer and cash payment. In addition to the fee charged by Austrian Post, bank fees will be charged both to the sender and the recipient. When receiving the payment in cash or having it credited to a bank account, the handling fee of Österreichische Postsparkasse will be charged according to the General Terms and Conditions "Brief International" and the "Produkt- und Preisverzeichnis Brief International".
