Temporary P.O. boxes or re-forwarding arrangements to avoid overflowing mailboxes
Having a temporary P.O. box at your post office makes sure that your mailbox or delivery box at home does not overflow with letters and advertising material during your holidays.
Customers may set up a P.O. box with their local post office for the time of their absence, for either two or four weeks. Holders of a temporary P.O. box will be delivered their entire mail to a personal box at their post office throughout a fortnight for EUR 9.50. The rate for four weeks is EUR 14.50. Registered letters (RSa and RSb) are not delivered to holiday P.O. boxes but returned to the senders during the period of absence. In this way, customers can be sure not miss any deadlines during their holidays.
Österreichische Post AG offers a re-forwarding service for those who do not want to miss their mail during their holidays. Letters, postcards, newspapers, info-mails and money orders are delivered to any holiday destination in Austria for up to 30 days for a lump-sum fee of EUR 4.10.
Parcels and EMS consignments will be dispatched to the holiday destination upon request at an additional surcharge.
Letters are also forwarded to destinations abroad. The price of this service is EUR 6.10 for a maximum period of 30 days.
For optimum service during your holidays, Österreichische Post AG recommends to order a temporary holiday P.O. box at the local post office at least three days before the start of the holiday. Ideally, re-forwarding orders should be placed five days before the start of holidays.
