Closing completed: 100% takeover of Croatian direct marketing company Weber Escal by Österreichische Post AG

Now two subsidiaries to represent Austrian Post on the Croatian postal market

After the contract was signed last October, 2 January 2007 now marked the closing for the takeover of the shares of Weber Escal by Österreichische Post AG. Weber Escal is the third subsidiary of Österreichische Post AG to be active in direct marketing outside Austria – the Austrian postal operator acquired feibra Hungary in September 2005 and KOLOS in Slovakia in 2006.
While the key focus of acquisitions so far used to be on the parcel sector, direct mailing has now taken center stage in Österreichische Post AG’s activities abroad. Österreichische Post AG is particularly interested in the market for unaddressed mailings.

Since 2003, Österreichische Post AG has been present on the Croatian market with its subsidiary Overseas Trade. Overseas is #2 in the parcel sector after the Croatian Post. With its two subsidiaries, Weber Escal and Overseas, Österreichische Post AG is now able to offer the high level of quality requested by its business customers in Croatia. Customers of Österreichische Post AG that are expanding into Austria’s neighboring countries can now rely on familiar high-quality business solutions being offered in a new environment in Croatia.

Weber Escal
Weber Escal, which was established in 1994, is active in the delivery of non-addressed mail items in Croatia, offering nation-wide coverage in this sector.
With a staff of 250, Weber Escal delivers about 90 million items of non-addressed advertising material to Croatian households every year. A market share of more than 40 percent makes Weber Escal the market leader – significantly ahead of Croatia’s national postal operator. In 2005, the company attained a sales volume of about € 2 million.
Weber Escal is among the fastest-growing enterprises in this highly dynamic market. The high quality of service offered by Weber Escal is leading more and more international retail chains to partner up with Weber Escal when they enter the Croatian market.

Österreichische Post AG
Österreichische Post AG, which is headquartered in Vienna, is Austrias leading provider of postal and logistics services. In 2005, its sales volume was in excess of € 1.7 billion. In addition to delivering letters and advertising material, the company achieves the major share of its sales in the parcel and logistics sector. Last year, around 43 million parcels were delivered in Austria. Since 2006, Österreichische Post AG has been active not only in parcel business for private customers (B2C, C2C), but also for business customers (B2B). Österreichische Post AG is active on the parcel delivery markets of Austria, Croatia and Slovakia. In its post offices, Österreichische Post AG offers not only postal and financial services, but also retail articles. Since May 2006, Österreichische Post AG has been quoted on the Vienna Stock Exchange, the third postal operator in Europe to go public. Since September 2006, the shares of Österreichischen Post AG form part of the ATX, the key index of the Vienna stock exchange. For more information, visit www.post.at.
