Österreichische Post AG presents Rolf Rüdiger

Pressemeldung from 04.04.2001

Paralelling Confetti, Rolf Rüdiger gets a special postage stamp

Rolf Rüdiger, a star of the Austrian "Confetti TiVi" show, and darling of many a young child, gets his own postage stamp worth ATS 7.00 on April 20, 2001. The stamp has been presented to the public by Anton Wais, Österreichische Post AG's Chief Executive Officer, and Kathrin Zechner, ORF's programme manager, on April 4, 2001, in the ORF (Austrian Television) atrium.

Mr. Wais took this opportunity to state: "The new generations are no doubt a problem in philately. Issue of postage stamps showing children's heroes should help in interesting the young in philately."

This is the second time a postage stamp is dedicated to one of the "Confetti TiVi" show stars. A stamp representing Confetti, Rolf Rüdiger's best friend who gave the name to ORF's special programme for children was issued in spring 2000, already, and now, as of April 20, 2001, the "Rolf Rüdiger" postage stamp may be placed on some 2.7 million letters. Circulation will, therefore, be exactly the same as for its predecessor, the "Confetti" stamp.

Issuing a special postage stamps series showing all stars of the "Confetti" show - one each year - Österreichische Post AG strives to attract young people to the fascinating world of philately.
