Rolling Stones in Vienna - Österreichische Post AG presents special issue block
Pressemeldung from 10.06.2003
The legendary Stones now available on Austrian stamps
8,250 pieces of a limited special edition of the “Forty Licks” double CD
During the course of their “Forty Licks” tour, the Rolling Stones will be coming to Vienna’s Ernst-Happel stadium on 18 June 2003.
As a surprise already before the sold-out concert takes place, Österreichische Post AG presents the special issue block “Rollikng Stones” today, on Tuesday 10 June 2003. As of 10 June, the Rolling Stone’s trademark - the sticking-out tongue - will take on a completely new additional meaning, with a view to the small-scale works of stamp art.
The block consists of four stamps at € 0.55 each. Naturally, the stamps feature the four “Stones” - Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ron Wood and Charlie Watts live on stage, on the occasion of an earlier concert in Austria. Using halftone photogravure , the Austrian National Printing office has produced a million copies of this special issue block. The block, which was designed by Christoph Lenzenhofer, is available in all Austrian post offices.
Limited special edition CD
A limited special edition of the Rolling Stones’ double CD “Forty Licks” will be on sale exclusively at Österreichische Post AG. Apart from a 40-page booklet featuring live photos from the current Rolling Stones tour, this special edition also contains the corresponding special issue block plus special postmark and first-day postmark.
This edition, which is limited to 8,250 pieces, is available exclusively at more than 500 of the largest post offices in Austria, for a price of € 24.98.
