Rate adjustment at Österreichische Post AG: New standard issue series available
Pressemeldung from 28.05.2003
A total of 289 million new stamps have been produced
As of Sunday, 1 June 2003, Österreichische Post AG’s new letter post rates have entered into force.
This is the reason why, from Friday 30 May or Monday 2 June, stamps with new denominations will be available from the standard issue series “Holidays in Austria”. Instead of opting for a time-consuming and costly exchange procedure, Österreichische Post AG has decided to give its customers the chance to continue using remaining old stamps in combination with new stamps denominated to fill in the balance between the value of the old and the new stamps.
Therefore, the new standard issue series will not only be available at € 0.55, € 0.75, € 1.00, € 1.25, and € 3.75 (as of 30 May), but also at € 0.04, € 0.13, € 0.17, and € 0.27 (as of 2 June).
If, for example, you still have € 0.51 stamps for standard letters, you can now also pay the postage for a standard letter by adding a € 0.04 denominated stamp to the € 0.51 stamp (as of 1 June 2003). The motifs used for these “supplementary” stamps correspond to those of the first issue of the “Holiday in Austria” series, but can be distinguished from it by a variation of the color used. In this way, customers can easily see at the first glance which stamp is suitable for supplementing which other stamp.
150 million copies of the € 0.55 denominated stamp (standard rate) featuring a motif from the Upper Austrian town of Steyr have been produced, and 30 million copies of the € 0.04 stamp. The total number of all new standard issue stamps issued amounts to 289 million.
The new rates applicable at Österreichische Post AG have been published on the Internet under www.post.at.
