Children as stamp designers

Österreichische Post AG is looking for the best drawing on the subject of “Children and Families” to use as stamp design 700,000 special issue stamps “Child welfare”

All children in Austria under the age of 14 now have the chance to become stamp artists.
We are looking for the best designs drawn by children on the subject of “Children and Family”.
There are no limits regarding style, technique, and color. However, it is important that the drawing be made in A5 format (half a DIN A4 page).
From among all drawings submitted until 31 March 2003 to Österreichische Post AG, codeword “Kinderbriefmarke”, Postgasse 8, 1010 Wien, a jury will choose the best design for Österreichische Post AG’s special issue “Child welfare”.
The stamp will feature the drawing plus the name of the child having designed it. The stamp will be issued on 12 September 2003, the number of stamps issued will be 700,000.
As an additional prize, the winner will get professional drawing material worth € 300.

Österreichische Post AG has a broad range of offers addressed specifically to children.
A whole special issue series has already been dedicated to kid’s TV darling “Confetti”, in 2003, a special issue commemorating the 45th anniversary of “Kasperl” and the “The Philis” stamp block will be issued in addition to the “Child welfare” special issue.
The Philis are cartoon characters created by Österreichische Post AG. Take a look at their web site under The Philis “operation kit”, a collector’s kit for children containing stamps, album, swapping booklet, magnifying glass, cartoons and a lot more, is available from all Austrian post offices at € 18.19.
