Vienna Letter Center:

Pressemeldung from 22.12.2003

Before Christmas, 1,200 post office employees handle up to eight million letters and postcards each day
Minister Gorbach and Österreichische Post AG CEO Wais visit Vienna Letter Center

Last week, Hubert Gorbach, Federal Minister for Transport, Innovation and Technology, and Anton Wais, Österreichische Post AG’s CEO, came to see with their own eyes how the 1,200 employees at the Vienna Letter Center cope with the exacting requirements during the pre-Christmas season.
On an annual average, the Vienna Letter Center processes about four million letters and postcards each day. In the weeks leading up to Christmas, this volume increases up to six to eight million per day.
By the end of 2004, Österreichische Post AG will have to be able to deliver 95 percent of all domestic letter items on the day after posting. Österreichische Post AG is well on its way towards achieving this quality goal. Currently, it is already 9 out of 10 letters which reach their destination on the day after posting.
