Commendation for Austria’s most successful direct mail campaigns
First-time special award for international mailings

On Thursday, 21 April 2005, DMVÖ, the Austrian Direct Marketing Association, will once again present is “Columbus Awards” in gold, silver and bronze. A total of 223 entries submitted were the basis from which to choose the best Austrian direct marketing campaigns of the year 2004.

Österreichische Post AG, ‘first port of call’ when it comes to direct marketing in Austria and main sponsor of the gala night held at the Vösendorf pyramid center, dedicated two special awards for the national and international direct mail campaigns. The participating agencies provided details on the economic success of the campaign, such as cost per order, cost per response, or the number of new customers gained. A growing trend towards internationalization is perceptible in almost all competitions held in the advertising business. What is more, cross-border direct marketing as well as the opening up of new markets are gaining more and more importance. Österreichische Post AG can rely on long-term experience in international markets and offer country-specific solutions for direct marketing.
This is the reason why Österreichische Post AG decided to create a special COLUMBUS award dedicated to successful international direct mail campaigns. This category solicited contributions from Austrian companies sending mailings abroad as well as from international companies addressing Austrian customers in their direct mail campaigns. Cross-border direct marketing as well as the opening up of new markets are gaining more and more importance.

‘Best of Direct Marketing’ -  already the third issue of the yearbook for the direct marketing industry
Due to the great success experienced in the past two years, Österreichische Post AG is publishing the 'Best of Direct Marketing’ yearbook together with the Manstein publishing house already for the third time this year.  Again, all the freshly chosen Columbus award winners are represented in the book. Apart from industry-specific information and expert contributions, the yearbook also provides an overview of successful Austrian direct marketing campaigns as well as a selection of international winners of the “Lions Direct 2004” awards in Cannes.
