Additional services, international letter mail
Registered mail
Send important letters (contracts, legal documents, applications, bank account information) via registered mail. Delivery will be documented with a confirmation of receipt pursuant to applicable provisions in the country of destination. However, this confirma-tion will not be given to the recipient.In addition, you can use the tracking number to track your registered mail item on its way to many destinations all the way to delivery.
Also, registered mail is insured against loss, theft and damage up to EUR 50.
Please note: valuable items (e.g. securities, jewellery, precious metals, mobile phones) may only be sent with our insured letter service!
Advice of delivery
Use our "advice of delivery" service to receive a confirmation signed by the recipient that your item has been delivered. This additional service is only available in combination with registered mail.Deliver to addressee in person
Items will only be delivered to the addressee in person or an authorised person.This service is only available in combination with our "registered mail" service. This service is not available for all countries. For some countries, it is only available in combination with advice of delivery.
Insured letter
Send your valuables such as securities, precious metals, exclusive jewellery etc. as an insured letter. In the case of damage or loss, Österreichische Post is liable for the indicated value maximum.This additional service is only available in combination with international priority letter mail and our registered mail service.
International reply mail
Capitalize on the benefits of international reply mail and pay for the recipients' postage if they reply to your international letter mail item.Registered mail is a service that is available for destinations worldwide. For letters that weigh up to 2 kg and parcels that weigh up to 10 kg, this service is free of charge as part of universal services. Indicated rates are net and exclude all statutory fees and duties, especially VAT.
Indicated rates for parcels over 10 kg and EMS items include all statutory fees and duties, especially VAT.
Please note:
We will not charge the import duty for customs services related to items received from third-country online retailers whose worth is under EUR 150.000, provided that the special VAT scheme pursuant to Section 25b of the Austrian Turnover Tax Act, Austrian Federal Law Gazette no. 91/2019 (import one-stop shop, IOSS) is claimed.
