Calculating the energy savings

The average power savings per year (including the energy rate, grid fee, taxes and duties) are calculated as follows for an Austrian household of 2 to 3 people with an annual power consumption of 3,500 kWh:

For each of the thirteen largest grid areas in Austria (these are all provinces and the cities of Graz, Klagenfurt, Linz, and Innsbruck), the maximum savings are calculated by deducting the energy costs from the lowest rate indicated in the Österreichische Post energy cost calculator without a new client discount from the power costs charged by the local provider (standard rate). The sum of these thirteen savings is divided by the number of grid areas and yields the average energy cost savings per year.

The gas savings per year (including the energy rate, grid fee, taxes and duties) for a living space of approximately 100 m² and an average yearly consumption of 15,000 kWh in Austria’s twelve largest grid areas (excluding Innsbruck) are calculated the same way.

The indicated overall annual savings on power and gas are calculated by adding the individual annual savings of power and gas costs.

The annual rates for power and gas were compared on the day indicated in the marketing material.

To calculate the annual power savings (including the energy rate, grid fee, taxes and duties), we use the following parameters for the calculation examples indicated in the table included in the mailing for the respective household size, living space and energy consumption in kWh per year:

For the grid area where your postal branch is located, we calculate the maximum possible energy saving potential per year by deducting the energy costs for the lowest available rate in the Österreichische Post energy calculator without a new client discount from the annual costs charged by the local provider (standard rate) in the respective grid area.

The annual gas savings in the grid area are calculated the same way.

The indicated overall annual savings on power and gas are calculated by adding the individual annual savings of power and gas costs.

The annual costs for power and gas in this grid area were compared on the day indicated in the mailing.
