Traditional Trademarks - Fritzelack

New Stamp Issue, 18 February

Traditional trademarks - Fritzelack

This company's logo has turned into a common expression: in Viennese colloquial language, making a "Fritzelack" means making a spectacular fall of any kind. In skiing the word "Fritzelack" is used as well to describe an athlete who has lost control over his or her body and who endes up like the young worker on the advertising poster, which was used as inspiration for Austrian Post's special-issue stamp in the "Traditional trademarks" series.

On the day of issue, the special post office will be cancelling items with the special first-day postmark.
