Empowerment of women initiative at Österreichische Post AG

Board adopts active equal opportunities policy

The empowerment of women initiative just adopted by the Board of Österreichische Post AG will take effect forthwith, replacing the program enacted in 1997 by Post & Telekom Austria AG (PTA).
The main objective of the empowerment of women initiative is to avoid the discrimination of women while at the same time ensuring the recognition of women as equal partners with equal rights in the workplace as well as the furtherance of a positive attitude towards working women at all levels of the corporate hierarchy.
Another aim is to improve the possibilities for balancing work and private life for both women and men to such an extent as is reasonably possible given the circumstances of business operations. A possible reduction in hours worked should be accepted as a working time model on an equal footing with fulltime work and should not result in any disadvantages for a person’s professional career. Another key aim is to increase the percentage of women at Österreichische Post AG, especially in leading positions.
A major instrument in attaining these objectives in a timely and coordinated fashion is the implementation of gender mainstreaming. The purpose of this equality-focused approach is to ensure equal opportunities for both women and men and to create, at the workplace, an atmosphere characterized by mutual respect, tolerance and appreciation. All the executives of Österreichische Post AG’s various organization units are responsible for implementing these measures for the promotion of women. An annual equality check is to provide information about the results achieved by the equality and empowerment of women initiative, in the form of an analysis of the status quo as compared against the values from the respective previous year.

As an innovative, modern and soon-to-be-listed enterprise, Österreichische Post AG guarantees an active equality policy aimed at creating equal opportunities for women and men both where recruitment and professional careers within the enterprise are concerned.
