Austrian Postal Service upgrades internal IT consulting

Max Schaffer (44), chief of the IT division of the Austrian Postal Service, assumes the function of technology advisor to the management board as of April 2002.

The IT professional, who has been with the company since March 1999, now holds a strategic staff position that supports the board with the solution of the technological challenges that arise in connection with the ongoing competitive orientation of the postal service.

Over the last three years, CIO (Chief Information Officer) Max Schaffer, assisted by a team of 50, has brought the company's EDP and technical communication processes into state-of-the-art condition. Now he withdraws from the operative management of the IT division to work as in-house consultant, focusing on the creation of a competitive IT strategy of the Austrian Postal Service.
