Mimi at Österreichische Post AG

Pressemeldung from 23.05.2002

Following in the steps of Confetti and Rolf Rüdiger, Mimi now also gets a stamp of her own

Available from Thursday, 23 May 2002, for EUR 0.51.

Confetti and Rolf Rüdiger from the ORF kids program each already have a stamp dedicated to them - now it is Mimi’s turn, too: From 23 May 2002, the “town goose” well-known from the “Confetti TiVi” and “Mimis Schnattershow” TV shows, will be available on a EUR 0.51 stamp - the number of stamps issued is 520,000.

High-profile presentation
Already yesterday, on 22 May 2002, nobody less than Andreas Vana, the “boss of Confetti TiVi”, and Anton Wais, Österreichische Post AG’s CEO, presented Mimi with the first of these stamps to keep for her own. When she received the stamp, Mimi was speechless - probably for the first time in her life - and could not even bring forth her familiar “cackle” because she was so excited.

By issuing stamps with motifs for kids, Österreichische Post AG wants to contribute its share to arousing interest for stamp collecting among youngsters, trying to prevent problems with finding a new generation of philatelists. Stamp issues featuring Confetti stars have already been planned for the next few years. Büselfried, Wusel, Pelilope or Onkel Risotto surely can’t wait to find out who’s going to be next.

The stamp produced in half-tone photogravure was designed by Elisabeth Pirker.
