Postal presence at schools
Pressemeldung from 24.09.2002
Teaching material made available by Österreichische Post AG for schools all over Austria
President of Vienna Municipal School Council accepts the gift
On Tuesday, 24 September 2002, Anton Wais, Österreichische Post AG’s CEO, handed over one of the teaching material kits Österreichische Post AG provides for schools all over Austria to Susanne Brandsteidl, the President of the Vienna Municipal School Council, in a symbolic festive act at the post office in Vienna’s first district.
When handing over the media package, Anton Wais said that with this school project Österreichische Post AG was meeting the demand of Austria’s teachers for up-to-date teaching material on the topic of postal services. “It was particularly important for us to integrate experts and pedagogues in the design process to ensure the material is adequate for the pupils who are going to use it. The material we provide is designed to make classroom instruction on the subject of postal services not only informative, but fun, too”, added Wais.
Media kit for elementary schools
The kit for elementary schools includes worksheets, action cards, a game plan with cards, a poster providing for active and versatile instruction, and a teacher’s handbook. To provide consistency throughout the comprehensive material, Österreichische Post AG has come up with “Mauritius”, a cartoon dog. The adventures of Mauritius provide the children with interesting information about the postal services. Österreichische Post AG has already sent out 4,500 kits to elementary schools all over Austria. And orders for more keep coming in all the time. Österreichische Post AG makes the school kits and brochures available to the schools for free.
Brochure for teachers
Österreichische Post AG has designed a brochure addressing teachers at primary and secondary level. The brochure provides background information for teachers, but can also be used directly for classroom instruction purposes. The material was designed in such a way that it can be used for different age groups, depending on the tasks set for the pupils by their teachers. Österreichische Post AG has already sent out 28,000 brochures to 2,500 schools. The feedback has been very positive, with teachers particularly appreciating the material’s suitability for practical classroom use.
