Österreichische Post AG well prepared for rise in mail item volume in pre-Christmas season

Pressemeldung from 28.11.2003

“Extra shifts” for delivery and longer opening hours around the holidays
Support for “Licht ins Dunkel” charity

Given the expected high volume of mail items, Österreichische Post AG will deliver letters and parcels also on Saturdays during the pre-Christmas season.

“Extra shifts” for parcel and letter delivery
From 22 November 2003, Österreichische Post AG also delivers parcels on Saturdays, given adequate demand. At post offices open on 13 and 20 December (Saturdays), you can also collect parcels deposited at the counter on these days.
As for Christmas letters, too, Österreichische Post AG’s delivery staff, will work “extra shifts”. On 20 and 27 December 2003 (Saturdays), letters will be delivered as on any normal workday, given adequate volumes, but no financial transactions will be performed. On 24 and 31 December, delivery will be the same as on any other workday. Financial transactions will be excepted on these days, too.

Remember to post your mail in time before Christmas
For letters and parcels destined for addressees within Austria, Österreichische Post AG recommends posting by not later than 19 December 2003 to ensure timely delivery.
Parcels sent to destinations abroad should generally be posted well in advance, especially if their destinations are countries outside Europe. To make sure that parcels reach their destination in time, Österreichische Post AG recommends to use the “Schnelles Paket” (fast parcel) service. For destinations within Europe, parcels using this type of service should be posted not later than by 5 December 2003, for destinations outside Europe at the beginning of December.

What has been said above holds also for letter-post items sent abroad. In this case, Österreichische Post AG recommends minding the following dates for posting:

• Priority service within Europe until 17 December, outside Europe until 10 December.
• Economy service within Europe until 10 December, outside Europe until the beginning of December.

EMS - when speedy delivery is essential
Österreichische Post AG’s Express Mail Services (EMS) ensures your Christmas present will arrive in time at destinations within Austria even if posted as late as 22 December.
In the case of EMS items sent abroad, Österreichische Post AG recommends to inquire with post office employees for expected delivery times as these may vary according to destination.

Österreichische Post AG supports “Licht ins Dunkel” charity with ten cents of the price of each special issue stamp sold
The 1.5 million copies edition of the Licht-ins-Dunkel special issue is available at all Austrian post offices for € 0.55. Ten cents for each stamp sold will be donated directly to “Licht ins Dunkel”. Another option for Österreichische Post AG customers to make a contribution is to buy a special set of Christmas cards consisting of three cards with Christmas motifs and three “Licht ins Dunkel” stamps. 30 cents of each Christmas card set sold will go to the charity. The Christmas card sets are available at all Austrian post offices for € 2.99. As a special treat, every Österreichische Post AG customer who buys this set will get 10 Christmas stickers free of charge.

The vouchers can be exchanged for all products and services offered by Österreichische Post AG and P.S.K. at every post office.
