Ewald Baumann, head of Post-IT, takes over management of Omnitec

Pressemeldung from 10.11.2003

Since the beginning of October, Ewald Baumann, head of Österreichische Post AG’s IT operations, has become the new managing director of Omnitec. Omnitect is a 50:50 joint venture of Österreichische Post AG and BAWAG/P.S.K. Group. The company ensures uniform IT operations in the field of counter service automation and post office IT optimization. Together with Günter Schanznig, who was nominated by BAWAG/P.S.K., Ewald Baumann is going to manage the service company, in addition to acting as head of IT operations at Österreichische Post AG.

Changes at Omnitec
Ewald Baumann’s goal is to continue the change process under way at Omnitec with respect to postal information technology services as well as to achieve a sustainable improvement of the cost situation by means of selective insourcing. The service landscape, which is currently distributed over different units and companies, will be unified and combined so as to release the synergies thus gained for the purpose of building up and extending a company focusing on the enhancement of the present-day service offering.

Ewald Baumann became head of Österreichische Post AG’s IT operations in May 2002. Using cost-cutting and efficiency-oriented technology, Baumann has already succeeded in sustainably improving Österreichische Post AG’s IT cost situation even under very difficult circumstances. This approach will be pursued with full commitment at Omnitec.
