800,000 times “Kaiser” Franz Beckenbauer

Österreichische Post AG pays tribute to one of the world’s best soccer players

€ 90,000 donated to Beckenbauer foundation and Deutsche Sporthilfe sports charity
Kick-off on 12 April 2006: the new Franz Beckenbauer stamp will be available from more than 900 post offices. At only € 0.75 per piece, everyone can get one of the 800,000 stamps featuring one of the world’s best soccer players of all time.
Even the picture chosen as stamp motif is something special – an artwork created by none other than the great pop artist Andy Warhol.

Österreichische Post AG will donate € 90,000 from the proceeds of the Beckenbauer stamp to the Franz-Beckenbauer foundation and Deutsche Sporthilfe, a German sports charity.

Apart from post offices, the special issue can also be ordered from our Philatelie.Shop (Kärntner Straße 44, 1010 Wien), at www.philatelie.at, from the collector’s service via e-mail to sammler-service@post.at, or by phone (+43/1/25 0 25 – 4040 from abroad, and 0800 100 197 - toll-free - for customers in Austria).
