NEW from 1 January 2017
Our additional service "item tracking" can be used for our basic products S and M parcels free of charge. Austrian Post will provide proof that the item has been posted and will also confirm its delivery.
To track your item, just go to www.post.at and enter your item number (available to senders and addressees alike). Our additional service "item tracking" is not available in combination with other additional services (e.g. registered mail, cash on delivery etc.)
Items that range between the dimensions length + width + height = 900 mm and the format L 1,000 mm x W 600 mm x H 600 may be posted with the additional service "item tracking" only.
In addition, you will have insurance coverage of up to EUR 50 for loss, theft and damage for your item.
When posting a registered mail item, the sender will receive a proof of posting and item delivery will be documented. A registration number lets you retrieve your mail item’s delivery status at all times. To see your item's current status, please go to "Track & Trace", where you will see if the item is ready for pick-up at a postal branch, if it has been delivered, if the addressee has refused to accept it or if the item was sent back to you. All registered mail items have insurance coverage of up to 75 euro in case of loss, theft, or damage.
However, if you would like to send valuables (e.g. money, securities or precious metals), please use our insured letter service.
When posting your registered mail item at the counter, you as the sender have the option of purchasing our additional service "sender information." All you have to do is provide your e-mail address or mobile phone number. You will subsequently receive a delivery notification via e-mail or text message as soon as the item has been delivered.
This service is available for domestic mail only.
Sender information is available for up to 50 items.
Choose the "advice of receipt" option to receive proof of delivery for registered letters, signed by the recipient.
Then, this proof of delivery will be sent back to you and you will see who received your item. This additional service is EUR 2.10. Advices of receipt are available free of charge at all Austrian Post service locations.
Available in combination with "registered mail" only. The information "advice of delivery" must be placed on the address side of your mail item.
Use this option to have your item delivered to the addressee only or to an authorized agent.
This additional service is not available for all countries and is only available in combination with our "registered mail" service. For some countries, this service is only available in combination with the "advice of receipt" service. The information "deliver to addressee only" must be indicated on the address side of your mail item.
Use this service to have your mail item delivered to the addressee only and not to an authorized agent.
This service is only available in combination with "registered mail" and "deliver to addressee only." Clearly indicate the information "do not deliver to authorized agents" above the address.
For peace of mind, trust your valuables to Austrian Post’s insured letter service. Whether you are sending cash, securities or exclusive jewellery, insured letters are placed under tight security from the point of mailing to the point of delivery, and are delivered in person only. Insured letters are insured up to the specified amount. Your postal branch will provide you with a mailing receipt when posting your item.
Please make sure that the value is clearly specified on the outside of the item. Please seal items that exceed the value of EUR 1,500. To ensure maximum security, we recommend using Austrian Post's envelopes for insured letters. This service is only available in combination with our "priority" and "registered mail" options.
This additional service is available in combination with our "priority" option (for international items) and "registered mail" only. Cash-on-delivery means that the item is delivered to the addressee upon payment of a previously specified amount to the Austrian Post delivery person. The cash collected by Austrian Post will then be transferred to your account.
Our extra service "cash-on-delivery" is only available in combination with "registered mail" and is not available for all countries.
On the mail item, please indicate the information "cash-on-delivery", the amount to be collected in euro, your name as well as your IBAN.
