Commemorative stamp Christkindl pilgrimage church
EN
The Baroque pilgrimage church in Christkindl, a district of Steyr, is celebrating the 300th anniversary of its consecration this year. When the Steyr tower guard placed a small wax figure of the Christ Child in a hollow tree and prayed in front of it, he was cured of his epilepsy. The place soon became a pilgrimage site. The present pilgrimage church was consecrated in 1725 by the Bishop of Passau, and the wax Christ Child is located in a halo above the tabernacle, which is shaped like a globe. This Christmas stamp is also issued as a maximum card.
