Commemorative stamp 100-year anniversary of the Austrian Federal Forests

100-year anniversary of the Austrian Federal Forests

Stamp and emblem for 100 years of Austrian Federal Forests. Forest scene with text: “100 YEARS”, “350”, “25.9.2025”, “TRAUNKIRCHEN”.

The commemorative stamp marking the 100th anniversary of the Austrian Federal Forests is finished with a scented varnish that evokes the smell of the forest.

On 28 July 1925, the Austrian Federal Forests (ÖBf) were established as an independent economic entity. They are responsible for around 850,000 hectares of natural land—approximately 10 percent of Austria’s total territory. This includes not only forests but also moors, floodplains, meadows, and lakes. While forestry remains the ÖBf’s core business, its recreational offerings—such as hiking, riding, and mountain biking trails, natural bathing areas, and winter sports facilities—are also of great importance. To mark their centenary in 2025, the ÖBf are launching a biodiversity initiative titled “100 years – 100 hectares” aimed at promoting species diversity and protecting nature. In honour of the forest, a postcard set has also been created featuring ten cards with stunning woodland images and quotes, along with six matching stamps.
