CV, Walter Oblin
Walter Oblin was born in Villach on 4 May 1969 and studied industrial engineering at the Technical University of Graz as well as an MBA in the USA. He began his professional career in 1994 as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company in Vienna. He was made a partner there in 2000 and subsequently took on management roles as a member of the Austrian management team and in McKinsey's global transport and logistics sector. After working for a German CleanTech start-up, he joined Austrian Post in autumn 2009 as Head of Strategy and Group Development. In July 2012, he took on the role of CFO and, at the beginning of 2019, also assumed responsibility for the Mail Division. Walter Oblin was appointed Chairman of the Management Board and CEO by the Supervisory Board of Austrian Post on 1 October 2024.
