Hazardous goods transport

Hazardous goods – sending permissible items in the mail

The shipment of hazardous goods is subject to strict legal requirements – and rightly so, because safety comes first. By complying with these requirements, you are helping to protect our employees and the general public, while ensuring the smooth and reliable delivery of your shipment.

What are dangerous substances/hazardous goods?

Hazardous goods are substances and goods that pose a hazard, i.e. they are flammable, self-igniting, corrosive, toxic, radioactive, pressurised or explosive. A detailed list of hazardous goods can be found in the brochure in the service area.

Shipping within Austria

In Austria, you can send items with limited amounts of hazardous goods or biological substances and patient samples as hazardous goods letters. For higher volumes, please use our Post Express service with the additional service “Hazardous goods – limited quantity (LQ)”.

The transport of hazardous goods via postal service is strictly limited (the legal basis is the ADR, the European Agreement on International Carriage of Hazardous Goods by Road).

For additional information (volume limited, labelling and packaging), please see the brochure "Information about hazardous goods shipping" available in the download area or get in touch with our hazardous goods contact person atpost@g-mayer.at
