 Identity verification options:

1. Mobile phone signature
The mobile phone signature is the electronic signature via a mobile phone. An identity verification via mobile phone is valid immediately.

2. Online identity verification
You can prove your identity in an online video chat or via the Österreichische Post app. An online dentity verification is valid immediately.

3. Identity verification via the Österreichische Post customer service:

  1. Create an account on post.at 
  2. Complete the contact form for private clients with customer number copy of your ID (contact form for business clients, please ad an excerpt of the company, commercial or association register)
    Requirements for the copy of your ID:
    - We accept the following IDs: passport, EU identity card, Austrian driver's licence (credit card format, issued in 2013 or later) 
    - A picture/scan of the front and back for driver's licence and identity card  
    - A picture/scan of your passport's second and third page
    Plus a picture (selfie) with your ID:
    - Make sure there is enough light
    - Hold your ID's "photo page" to the camera right next to your face
    - Please check if the ID is clearly recognisable before you submit the picture
  3. Our Österreichische Post customer service will review your documents, process the identity verification and inform you via e-mail
  4. After we have successfully verified your identity, you will be able to fully use all Österreichische Post online services (e.g., set up a redirection on post.at and pay for this service)

Please make sure that you have entered all data, especially your phone number, on https://www.post.at/sh/mein-profil. Then please write down your customer number that you will also find on this page. Use this customer number along with an official picture ID to go to any Österreichische Post service location or Post Partner to prove your identity.

For business clients, the identity verification is done at our postal branches or by your personal customer advisor. To identify yourself as a business client, please bring the completed registration form, the registration as a commercial client in an official register (e.g., company register, commercial register) and a valid picture ID.
